When the first man awoke
and stared into the spinning stars
that hinted at glorious infinity
with the warm smell of earth and green,
intense and new,
being his womb
and the air was fresh
against his skin,
biting and alive, making his soul shiver
in delight and invigoration
I wonder what he saw in the heavens
above him, beyond him
I wonder how he wondered

When the last man walks
treading the remains of civilization
in the red light of an ancient, dying, setting sun
the greatest cities, ruins
the highest technologies, rubble
the noblest legends, forgotten
and when he sits, his strength spent
to tarry but a moment more
on this earth, then go,
his final breath dissapearing on the winds
and carrying the arcane symbols
sum of all human memory
then they are gone
I wonder what he saw behind him
below him, around him
I wonder how he wondered

Mmm. This is definately nice... Nice. Great word. ¬¬ -Slaps self-

Anyway, I like this, such wonderous imagery too, with a clever use of words.

I usually go for more rhyming poetry, but after a few lines I really got into the swing of this, it has a good rhythm. Good. Great word. ¬¬ -Slaps self.-
